YouCanPlan is an online community which will attempt to match consumer demand in housing directly with professional supply. No main developer. No speculative design. Only houses that people actually want and commission. In doing so YouCanPlan sets out to support 'enabled self-procured housing' at a neighbourhood scale, with a view to developing consumer driven sustainable communities.

YouCanPlan3D is virtual world software for housing, developed by Slider Studio and Univeristy of East London as part of the ESP-sim project funded by UrbanBuzz. The software can manage and visualise the development of a whole community where the future residents choose their new homes from architect designed pattern book houses set within an urban design code.

Pattern books have a rich history in architectural design. In principle a pattern book design is a design that is ready made, published as a set of plans and details, and which can be deployed on different sites. YouCanPlan believes in flexible adaptable pattern book designs that can be configured for different sites, perhaps be built from different or local materials, and is essentially customer focused whilst fitting into an urban design context.
